Wandering through Woolies after an evening stroll, I was greeted with the sight of “Sweet Heat Skittles”. The black and fiery packaging intrigued me, before my eyes focused and landed upon the Skittles logo. Like any normal human being, my first response was “But why?” Then I realised I’m no normal human being, with a new attitude forming towards this mistake: Hell yeah.

And honestly, I don’t regret it. While sour Skittles feel like they’re digesting you from the mouth downwards, these spicy skittles are nowhere near the same level of intensity. It took a whole mouth-full before I really felt it, and it was nowhere near that level of needing to drown my mouth in milk. In some ways I was disappointed, but this is probably a good thing if you’re curious but also hesitant towards spicier food.

There’s also a nice selection of fruity flavours here, with strawberry, lemon, mango, watermelon and orange all contributing towards the warm pallet of colours within the bag. Overall, I highly recommend these if you like your food to be a challenge like me, with the amount you eat all at once really setting that heat level for you. But really, who comes up with this stuff?
