Time for another V Energy review! This one is called Twisted Tropics: Pineapple Crush, making me wonder if we’re going to see more tropical themed energy drinks from V in the near future. As far as I can tell, it’s only been out for a few weeks; I first came across it while marking exams after the summer semester in mid-February.
While I don’t mind pineapple in general, I’m not a huge fan of it, so I was ambivalent about this one. Still, since it’s a new flavour, I felt obligated to give it a try.
Twisted Tropics: Pineapple Crush V tastes like… pineapple. No surprises there. But what was surprising was the strong mint aftertaste. I don’t like mint at the best of times, but when I’m drinking what should be a nice, sweet, tropical beverage, it’s a rather unwelcome addition. I’m not sure if it was a deliberate inclusion or some odd and unfortunate side effect produced by the combination of ingredients, but it relegated this flavour from being ‘pretty good’ to just ‘okay’. If you like mint, you’ll probably enjoy it a lot more, but even so, you’ll be wondering why it tastes like you just finished brushing your teeth.
