I am a firm believer in finding music that matches your mood, to either use as an amplifier for good feelings, or a backdrop to work through tough times. So when you discover an artist that mixes so many feelings on the darker side of the spectrum, it’s good to latch on and figure out why it resonates at this moment in time. Which is definitely why Lorn has been on heavy rotation, being that soundtrack to figuring out a lot of stuff on my mind.
It’s a dark blend of electronic sound, with a lot of the weight being in the low ends. One song, Ghosst(s), appears to even use a bowed double bass to give a unique, growly bass sound that is absolutely haunting. While it’s tough to recommend a whole album straight off, I’ve made a playlist of songs I’ve discovered that really hit the spot with me, which you can listen to below.
