I discovered Kero Kero Bonito via their song Waking Up, a song all about how hard it is to wake up. I discovered a lot of their music to be based on fluffy concepts like this, finding it to be a poppy and upbeat way to combat the usual down tempo music I usually listen to. So when their single Only Acting came out, I was excited to see an evolution in their sound while keeping their identity- then the ending happened.

Time ‘n’ Place seems to be an album all about losing innocence. A realisation that the world can be cruel, unfair, and hard. That’s not to say it’s a sad album per se- the sound has gone from poppy to slightly poppy with a tinge of melancholy. The lyrics usually have a double meaning- Only Acting is about putting on that facade for social media. It came as such a huge surprise, and it was pulled off magnificently, that I can’t recommend it enough. Especially if you were already a Kero Kero Bonito fan.
